Winter backcountry terrain in Glacier National Park, BC is routinely bombed to trigger avalanches that may otherwise be unplanned. The Parks Canada Winter Permit System (WPS) Website is meant to help the public safely access this terrain to avoiding these areas. Parks Canada identified that the WPS Website was outdated and planned to redesign it into an Winter Information System (WIS) HTML5 Web app.
User Experience Research and Design Consultancy, NERIDAco identified that Parks Canada knew little about users' motivations, goals, and behaviours when planning a backcountry skiing trip in GNP. As a User Research Design Associate for NERIDAco, we conducted user research with the with the purpose of understanding how to design the WIS Web app user experience to encourage users to abide by the WPS.
