The Winter Permit System (WPS) is a complex system in place in Glacier National Park, BC allowing the winter backcountry to be accessed by the public. The purpose of the Winter Information System (WIS) is to communicate the WPS effectively to the users.
I worked as a User Research Design Associate for NERIDAco and we conducted user research with the intention of understanding the users' motivations, goals, and behaviours with regards to the use of Glacier National Park in the winter for the purpose of redesigning the WPS Website into a WIS HTML5 Web app to ensure skiers abide by the WPS.
